If you have ever seen
one of our alpacas in the show ring, you'll (hopefully) notice how well
behaved they are; allowing the judges to touch their fleece from head to
knee without having to be restrained and allowing their bites to be
shown without having to hold their heads. Many people have asked
about the training behind this, so with great pride, we present the
wonderful crew who spend a good deal of their time training not only the
show string, but all of the alpacas on the farm.
Donald Holmes
Mary Soccio
Kenny Gascoigne
Donald started helping
us run the farm about 4 years ago. He is now our farm manager and
with this responsibility provides hands on training for customers, farm tours,
alpaca medical and breeding care, alpaca appraisals, breeding selections
and just about everything else (save for mechanical repairs).
Donald starts his day here before 5 AM waking up our two
roosters
sometimes as much as 3 hours before sunrise!
Mary has been with us
now for 2 years. She is terrific on working with new crias and in
helping us to care for their mothers. Mary assists with just about everything
including breeding, birthing, and the medical program. For some
reason, she also gets to tend to the fly traps! Mary is her very
best when being proactive with the care she provides, helping us to make sure all the
alpacas get the attention they need.
Kenny usually
provides our day's grins. We have had the pleasure of having his
company here for the last 2 years. With Kenny around, we can have 12 or
more hours of continuous coverage with the herd as Kenny handles mid
to late day alpaca care. He checks the herd over one last time
before the end of the day making sure the new babies are doing well, and
giving a little extra feed to the ones in need of more groceries.
In addition, there are
two others, who are also of great importance in helping us to keep the
farm running and clean. Randy Worden (handy Randy) has been
attending to the farm's maintenance and development work for the last 2
years. Ben Weston has been coming in on weekends for the last year
and helps us to keep the farm clean and beautiful.
All together, these
great people work hard to provide the very highest standard of care.
Our sincerest thanks to everyone.
