A.L. Paca’s breeding program
is well refined as the result of the experience in breeding nearly 500
females over the last 13 years. Females are hand bred with the breeding
closely supervised. The female is tested for ovulation and her pregnancy is
monitored on a weekly basis. Extensive notes are made of the female’s
behavior so that points of receptivity and behavioral changes are well
documented for future reference.

Color Doppler
Ultrasound showing blood flow within
the heart of
a 62 day old baby. |
Before a female leaves her
breeding program, we make certain she is pregnant and the fetus is alive. We
have invested in a color Doppler ultrasound machine, a very sophisticated
device which images blood flowing within the fetal heart.
The Internet has even been
made a unique part of our AlpacaPlus® breeding program! A customer
accessible web page is created for every alpaca brought to the farm. The web
pages are updated daily. Crias accompanying their mother’s to the farm are
weighed daily and their weight and medical records are posted to the
Internet. Owner’s can see exactly what is going on and what is planned,
without being forced to pick up the phone. Many have stated it’s the next
best thing to still being with their alpacas.
The cost of breeding to an
A.L. Paca's herdsire has been and continues to remain most reasonable. The
farm’s very popular breeding packages enable breedings to be acquired for
non-restricted herdsires at extremely reasonable rates; as low as $1,000 per
breeding. No board is charged for mother or cria while they are in the
breeding program - no handling fees either. A 30-day live birth guarantee,
which is believed to be one of the longest, tops off the A.L. Paca’s
AlpacaPlus® breeding program. |
