Comments: This group had it all - correct frames; identical fleeces which are dense, fine, bright, and consistent in all of the 6 places checked. This sire can obviously throw his qualities no mater to which dam he is bred to. (A side note: Doug likes to note that they are so similar that they even wear the same hat and shoe size).

Notes:

• 1st place in Get of Sire was our 12-time Get of Sire winner Simba of A.L. Paca's.

• We had all of our Sheer Galaxy crias at this show (a total of three so far from our breeding program). One of these won Brown Male Reserve Color Champion, another won 3rd of 15 in juvenile white females --- but in this same class of white juvenile females, our third Sheer Galaxy cria won First Place and then went on to win White Female Color Champion. What a terrific show this was for our first three Sheer Galaxy crias!!!

Sheer Galaxy has perhaps, the most advanced fleece on our farm. It is considerably dense, consistent, and has brightness like no other. It is so lustrous it can just about reflect moon beams! Additionally, his frame is idea - nice and square with large bone.

Sheer Galaxy enjoyed a terrific run in the show ring winning acclaim from some of our industries best judges. Their comments include...

Mike Safley at 2006 NY Alpaca Extravaganza: absolutely beautiful, bright fleece; nothing to improve upon here; couldn't ask for a nicer animal.

Wade Gease at 2006 Ohio AlpacaFest: correct from every angle; very nice frame; extremely consistent; bountiful brightness; look of satin with a silky feel.

Sheer Galaxy settled his first female in August '07 at just 1 year 9 months of age. Since then, we have been covering our very best Aga Khan and Simba daughters with him. These pairings have yielded fleeces which appear wet as they have so much brightness.

We offered a magnificent son of Sheer Galaxy at the 2010 Breeders Edge Auction. Stall traffic to see him was intense and so was the bidding. More on A.L. Paca's Helix Galaxy is available here.

Sheer Galaxy wins Junior Herd Sire of the Year!

The 2010 MaPaca (Mid-Atlantic Alpaca Association) Jubilee is one of our country's largest shows with over 1,000 alpacas entered this year. This Level V show held their first "Herd Sire of the Year" competition. There were 36 champion sires entered into two categories:

• Senior (males greater than 5 years of age) and,

• Junior (males 5 years of age and younger).

The winner of the competition was to be determined by:

1) Placement of the sire's offspring at the show,

2) Amount of money bid on a breeding to the sire, and

3) Voting for favorite stud by breeders in attendance.

While at the MaPaca show, we thought Sheer Galaxy stood a good chance of making a run for the award as:

• His crias did very well in the show ring with one taking second place and all of the rest winning their classes. Also, Galaxy won the Get of Sire competition to boot (although this did not count towards the Herd Sire of the Year trophy), and

• He received the highest bid for a breeding to him of all of the sires in his category.

Turns out he was the top stud and was awarded MaPaca Junior HERD SIRE OF THE YEAR. Way to go Galaxy!
